What Do Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Ackerman Engineering, and Comcast Have in Common?
They Have All Enhanced Student Experiences at Outdoor Lab
Join Us in August For The Next Volunteer Opportunity
Improving Student Experience
Picture this: you're a sixth grader at Outdoor Lab, confidently hiking up the Leave No Trace Trail. Your footing is sure, the path is smooth, and you're learning about sustainable recreation while experiencing the joy of being capable in nature.
This wasn't always the reality. Just a few years ago, students struggled up steep, rocky trails plagued by erosion issues. Today, thanks to our incredible partners, our students cruise confidently along new routes designed with sixth graders in mind.
Partners Making Real Impact
Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) has been a driving force behind the trail transformation at Mt. Blue Sky. Their volunteers have completely reimagined the Ecosystems, Astronomy and Leave No Trace Trails. This year alone, VOC's 30 volunteers constructed over 600 feet of new trail and built essential safety features. VOC's continued involvement has increased trail accessibility ensuring inspiring, safe learning experiences.
Ackerman Engineering celebrated their 25th anniversary by bringing up 12 staff members for a team-building workday. Their crew provided valuable maintenance to the Astronomy Trail and extended the Leave No Trace Trail, bringing us closer to trail completion.
Comcast is visiting soon to help us repaint picnic tables, update signage, and build "Mouse-In-The-House" boxes for engaging team-building exercises.
Students finding success hiking at Outdoor Lab!
Every year, multiple partners and hundreds of volunteers dramatically increase the positive experiences sixth graders have at Outdoor Lab. We are so grateful for these partnerships and encourage you to get involved today.
Join Us This August For A Community Workday!
Get in on the fun and help us enhance the Initiatives Course that students take on their first day at Outdoor Lab! We will create a low-ropes "falling bed" — a soft landing area for students challenging their comfort zones and testing their balance! All experience levels welcome!
When: August 23rd from 9am-2pm (we're bringing the sandwiches!) Where: Mt.Blue Sky Campus at 201 Evans Ranch Rd. Evergreen, CO 80439
