After Dark 2020: SAVE THE DATE!

**Choose Your Comfort Level**

We believe Outdoor Lab is a treasured place in the Jeffco community where people go, physically and mentally, to find peace, safety or comfort.

After Dark is OLF's annual, "not-so-traditional" fundraiser. This year, we're going “back to our roots” to tell you the stories of why people find certain connection at Outdoor Lab. We'll be reminded that Outdoor Lab began with a mission to get our kids outdoors and to allow them to explore, connect and just "be". We hope the stories you hear and the experience you have at After Dark will have the same kind of impact on your well-being.  And we hope that you will choose to help us continue this mission for generations to come.

You're officially invited to Outdoor Lab Foundation's 7th annual After Dark!  Join us for a night of stories, excitement, live music, auctions and giving.

How Nature Affects the Brain & Body

What does nature do for the human body and brain? When students attend Outdoor Lab, why is there such a change in their attitudes and outlook? Why do adults generally feel better after a walk, or after a hike in the woods?

We wondered, too, and wanted to help answer some of these great questions. Read more on our blog.

What's Happening With Your Favorite Site Staff?

The world has "slowed down" quite a bit, but it hasn't stopped turning. Read some good news below to see what's going on in the lives of the Outdoor Lab site staff:

  • Ricky Martinez, Assistant Site Manager at Windy Peak Outdoor Lab, welcomed a son on May 15. Caleb Martinez was a healthy baby, weighing 7 lbs, 13 oz. Congratulations to you and your family, Ricky!
  • Merritt Gneiser, Mr. Gneiser's son (Principal at Windy Peak Outdoor Lab) graduated from Conifer High School this spring. Way to go, Merritt!
  • Carson Allen, Site Manager at Mount Evans Outdoor Lab, recently graduated from Evergreen Fire Academy's Fire Rescue Program. How fitting for fire mitigation at the sites- congrats, Carson!
  • Jason Harding, Program Specialist at Mount Evans Outdoor Lab, recently got engaged to Tracy Warner. Congrats to you two!
  • And last but not least, kudos to Pat Bramblett, Site Manager at Windy Peak Outdoor Lab, who has officially worked at Outdoor Lab longer than any other staff member. We're grateful for the history you carry.

NREL'S Education Programs

NREL Hosts a Summertime Storytelling Series

Join one of our partners, the U.S Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Education Team for their summer Story Time series, a webinar for young minds. This series features an energy-related children’s book with a built in at-home activity.

It gives kids a chance to learn something fun about science while parents can have a half-hour to themselves. Each week, children can join members of the team or guest readers for a story and activity.

These sessions will take place all summer via WebEx on Wednesdays from 10:30-11 a.m. The stories are geared toward children ages 5-8, but all are welcome to join.

Please use the password StoryTime.
