Live Auction Item #1: Rollin' on the River

Welcome to the remote, rugged mountains and rivers of Central Idaho! The Middle Fork is a 104-mile free-flowing river in the heart of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, originating 20 miles northwest of Stanley, Idaho.

It was one of the original eight rivers in the nation designated as Wild and Scenic on October 2, 1968. The river moves through a variety of climates and land types- from alpine forest to high mountain desert to sheer, rock-walled canyon, the third deepest in North America.

The Middle Fork is an internationally recognized whitewater/wilderness float trip, known for scenic beauty and crystal clear whitewater. It is a non-motorized floating experience with technical rapids. These class III and IV+ rapids offer boating excitement for both families and experienced rafters. This trip is all inclusive of food and alcohol.

Intern Spotlight: Natalie Gibson

“Outdoor Lab has given me my happiness back,” says Natalie Gibson, current intern at Mount Evans Outdoor Lab School. “It is such a healthy environment with such good people who do everything in their power to make you feel supported.”

Natalie heard about the internship when she was a high school leader. She was “taken under the wing” by Ms. Orlando, a past intern, who showed her how to be an intern and explained why it was a good opportunity. It was Natalie’s senior year, so she decided to take a gap year. When she found out she got it, she was “absolutely ecstatic.”

A graduate of Lakewood High School, she’s already a dental assistant and plans to become a dentist after earning her bachelor’s degree in biology.

Way to go, Natalie!

Deane Elementary & Jeffco Virtual Academy Visit Mount Evans

Last week, Mount Evans Outdoor Lab hosted Deane Elementary School and Jeffco Virtual Academy. They had support from high school leaders from Lakewood High School, Arvada West and Virtual Academy. The week was really powerful- leaders noted they saw how two schools can come together to make one strong team. The week had lots of different weather but students were prepared.

Another awesome week in the books!
