Outdoor Lab Foundation's Lab Card Program Transfer Policy

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Lab Card Program Transfer Policy

The Outdoor Lab Foundation is pleased to partner with King Soopers and Safeway through their respective fundraising programs. The Foundation has entered into these corporate giving programs to provide families with a tool to raise funds toward their child's Outdoor Lab tuition fees.

It is important to note that these funds are not the fundraiser's personal resources. Rather, they are funds donated by King Soopers and Safeway to the Foundation. Tracking mechanisms have been created by King Soopers and Safeway in coordination with the Foundation to allocate portions of each corporate donation across the myriad shoppers that participate in the programs. Funds are then earmarked internally by the Foundation to support the expenses associated with tuition for each student.

These corporate donations also provide important unrestricted funds to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. Funds are distributed in alignment with the Foundation's mission to support and enhance the Outdoor Lab experience for all students in Jeffco. This includes tuition assistance for marginalized students and under-resourced schools and support for the campuses, so they are attractive and welcoming venues for education. Your continued shopping through this program is significant because it incentivizes and justifies King Soopers and Safeway to continue to make meaningful donations to the Foundation every year.

We understand that, on occasion, a family may be left with an existing balance on their King Soopers and Safeway fundraising accounts. We also recognize that the tumultuous events of the past two years have caused many schools to cancel, reschedule, or significantly truncate the Outdoor Lab experience resulting in reduced or no fees for the experience. Families and students have chosen to opt-out of the experience, as well. The combination of these circumstances has left many more balances leftover than usual and has had many families inquiring about balance transfer options.

Transferring funds from one student account to another is allowed so long as all three of the following criteria are met.

1. Your child's school has canceled Outdoor Lab in the year he/she is attending or has reduced the experience to the "2-day" model.

2. Your fundraising account shows a balance of $200 or more after any tuition fees are paid.

3. You have a younger sibling or step-sibling who will attend Outdoor Lab in the next two school years for whom you want the funds applied.

We believe this policy balances the needs of families with the most urgent fundraising need for their next child while also directing the Foundation's human and cash resources toward our mission in the most efficient manner. If you believe you qualify for a transfer and wish to do so, please reach out to us via email at info@outdoorlabfoundation.org or call 720-403-8241 x1003.

If you do not qualify, please know that we are grateful for your participation in the program, and we encourage your continued support. Contributions to the Foundation are always directed to the organization's Strategic Initiatives and managed in the most effective and efficient way possible. Our finances are audited every year, and we have earned Candid Platinum Status and a four out of four star "Give with Confidence" rating from Charity Navigator for our commitment to organizational transparency and financial stewardship.
