Mt. Blue Sky Volunteer Workday

REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER HERE --> http://e.givesmart.com/events/BLp

What you'll do:

On this project of approximately 20 volunteers, you'll work together on the Mount Blue Sky low ropes challenge course (a.k.a. Initiatives Core Class). Volunteers will be conducting general maintenance tasks such as shoring up retaining walls, painting, and mulching around elements. Volunteer work may also include rebuilding platforms out of composite decking.

Tools and gloves will be provided. Though, you are welcome to bring your own pair of work gloves if you prefer. Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes. Long pants are recommended but not required. Please know your clothes might get paint on them if you're working on a painting project. The Outdoor Lab Foundation is happy to provide lunch for all volunteers. When you register for the workday, you can let us know if you have a specific diet or allergies; we are happy to accommodate.

Why it's important:

Founded in 1957, Outdoor Lab exposes youth to the outdoors and develops passion and competencies in environmental awareness and conservation. However, the low ropes course known as "Initiatives" at Mt. Blue Sky, has experienced heavy wear and tear, making certain elements unstable, slippery, and overdue for much-needed maintenance work. Your efforts will make this course safer for the 2,500 sixth-grade students who visit Mt. Blue Sky every year - many of whom are participating in a low ropes course for the very first time!
